"alone carved out a canyon in her chest, deep grooves of a river run dry. she didn't know how to fill it back up. she wasn't sure she even wanted to, just for it to empty again."

This is a dark academia book I sort of wish I had read back in autumn (or left on my shelf until October comes round), but I couldn't wait that long. That cover just lured me and I needed to know...

The story is set in Radcliffe Prep, where our protagonist Este is a student. There she meets Mateo, whom she really doesn't want to believe is a ghost. But no one knows who he is or has seen him and what about his paperwork... So, he, in fact, is one. A ghost, that is.

One day he leads her to the attic and steals a rare book, fiercely protected by the school's librarian, leaving Este to explain herself after she is found out. Stuck in trouble, she is now racing against the clock to retrieve the precious book or else she'd be thrown out of school.

The setting and the vibes are pretty damn amazing, and the story itself is now uninteresting, though somewhat predictable. It was nice to live in the atmosphere for a bit, though.

About Me

I blog from time to time about things that inspire me. Lately, I have been getting back into the habit of reading, and my posts reflect that. I'm also always trying to take pretty photos, with varying degrees of success.
